Duplicate Finder 2009 is a utility that identifies duplicate files in one or more paths. Scan can be defined by path, file mask, and with complex filters for size/date/attributes. It compares the binary content of files and marks as duplicates files that are identical in contents.
Features: The tool is nicely designed considering the user need and expectation. You can perform find and delete duplicate files on your local drive, network computer and on external devices. Interface helps you to find the duplicates without much effort. Architecture is based on file structure to determine if two files are same or not.
You need to define your scan criteria to find exact duplicate files. In Add search location, you can also include sub-folders for search. Exclusion list allows you to set exclude hidden files or folders. You get a very nice filter option, it allows you to set file mask. You can find duplicates of any type: documents, file archive, images files, music files, video files, program files, program source etc. You can filter with date and file size etc. Duplicate file search can be performed Byte by Byte, CRC32, same file and pattern duplicates. The application can search files by name as well as byte by byte. In the byte by byte search/comparison, you have options to set as file name similarity, same file extension and same date time. After search, duplicate files are displays in groups to make it easier for you to decide if they need to be kept or deleted. Application allows you to export search result in HTML, XML, and delimited text file format. Deleting duplicate files frees lots of disk space on your hard drives; it also saves time on the drive clean up process.
Overall: It’s a very useful tool, works very efficiently and highlights number of duplicate on your computer. It also supports networks and removable media devices like external hard disk, flash drives, etc.
